Another Ruby Jubilee in the books

It's a rainy day at the farmette. Not too cold, so no snow.
Yesterday was a very long but fun day. The Markdale Women's curling group put on our annual bonspiel. For non-curlers, a bonspiel is a one-day tournament. While the idea is to compete, the camaradarie of meeting and chatting with other like-minded women is right up there, too. I was the volunteer photographer, and got about a bazillion amazing shots.

It was a total cracker. Sixty-four curlers came from all over southern Ontario, from Sarnia to Toronto and north to Wiarton. There were two draws, two games, scrumptious food and lots of laughing.
Our theme was the spirit of international curling, and teams were encouraged to dress up in costumes representing the country of their choice: Ireland, Australia, of course Canada and even Jamaica were there with a bunch of others.

One of the women on the Wiarton Scottish team graciously piped in the teams for the second draw of the day. How cool was that!

The generosity of the volunteer cooks, servers, organizers and helpers was only amplified by the amazing local businesses and individuals who contributed to the raffle and silent auction. Proceeds are going toward making the club an even better place for everyone.
Tables were literally groaning with gift baskets, wine sets, crockpots and all manner of handmade crafts.
A truly impressive day was had by all. One woman remarked that she'd never seen so much effort put into a bonspiel before. Which put a smile on all our faces.
I'm so grateful to live in a community where we all pull together for fun, friendship and a good cause. Until next week.
