Autumn blaze of colour

Summer does not want to leave the farmette apparently. It was 17C when we got up to feed the beasts at 7 a.m. and going to 28C today. In October.
But the colours tell a different story. Fall is in full swing around the farmette and there's an abundance of life as the growing season winds down.

The last rose bloom is shining out and pumping out its gorgeous scent like it's the middle of the year.

The house is looking sooo much better since Kyle our neighbour did his professional job of paintining up the trim. Nice backdrop to the now-mature zebra grass and burning bushes in the front bed.

The hanging begonia is hanging in there. It's been a real trooper the whole summer long. This is one of my favourite plants. Just plunk it in, water it and watch it perform. Yay.

The yard has a sprinkling of maple leaves that will soon turn into a blanket that we'll be raking. At least the top layer. We have so many trees that the grass under them would be dead next year if we didn't do a little tidying.

The chrysanthemums finally decided to bloom and are in their full glory.
I had the front bed replanted when Russia invaded the Ukraine, so half of it is kind of a tribute to the resilience of that country and its people to fend off the enemy. Which, translated, means its mostly yellow and blue. Blue irises and salvia with stella d'oro lilies and the mums. Had to add in some white - so there are hydrangea and hostas, too.
Hard to believe it's been more than three years and the war continues...
So happy and grateful to live in a peaceful country where we don't have to worry about sheltering from bombs raining down from the sky. And we can enjoy the colours of the season. Until next week.
