Christmas in Feversham

It's a grey, chilly day in Grey County. The Christmas festivities are over for 2025 and we're prepping for 2026.

Our Christmas Eve celebration over at the Thorntons was sublime. Along with the family, their neighbours Lindsay and Barb came over to join in.

Barb told us that their 50th anniversary of being together and moving from Edmonton to Grey County will be in 2026. Amazing.

Here's the table halfway through a scrumptious meal of prime rib, roasted veggies, green beans and all the fixings. Yum.

We had obviously already cracked the Christmas crackers as evidenced by the crowns on everyone's noggins.

Sandy and I skipped buying them this year, instead opting for rummaging in our basements for leftovers from years passim.

I scored a whole bagful and Sandy found a half-carton of the lovelies. Bonus.

A traditional treat when beef is on the menu is Brian's famous Yorkshire puddings. He takes pride in making them just right, and, while he wasn't completely happy this year, everyone else thought they were great.

Lindsay's been a favourite of the Thornton dogs for some years.

Whenever Sandy was out walking the golden retrievers (Maya and Marley back in the day), they'd strain at the leash on approaching his house.

Treats were always on hand, and December 24, 2025 was no different. Here he and Barb are with a rapt crew of canines. Sadie, Marley and Calli really were spoiled doggoes that day.

Asking Sandy to pose for the camera while wearing her new, homemade-at-the-farmette toque almost always means the Bob Mackenzie (of Bob and Doug fame) rendition.

Sandy and Brian always pull out the stops for Christmas because they are the best. So happy to be able to be with family and neighbours at this time of year. Hope everyone else is enjoying a fun, healthy and safe holiday. Until next week.
