Day away

It's a gloomy, rainy day at the farmette. We and the gardens needed it. So I won't complain. But I will say that the world is going completely bonkers. Okay. Actually, Trump is going completely bonkers. Again. He's selling information on his social media platform for an astronomical price so his billionaire buddies (and family) can cash in early on the decisions he makes as President. The criminality of the man knows no bottom.

Anyhow, in our wee corner of the world, we are remaining sane by continuing our day tripping. This time we scored a couple of amazing buys at two of Southampton's markets.
Here's Rob checking out the menu at the Lighthouse restaurant, right on the main intersection of the town. He had a big breakfast with the best tasting home fries I've ever had. Yes, I stole. I got the salad and salmon like a good little dieter. A couple of fries wouldn't hurt, right?

We had worked up an appetite from cruising through the 50 vendors across the street.

This stunning picture of a cedar waxwing was taken by Maureen Elliott, who had a kiosk at the market. She and her husband are both photographers out of Owen Sound, and he was busy in Lion's Head at another artists' market.
We bought this one because we have these gorgeous birds every year outside the kitchen window. They love to chow down on the service berry tree on the west side of the farmette house. We're getting it framed, and he'll stay year round on the wall.

We also went to the Southampton Market, a gigantic factory outlet with everything you could possibly imagine to buy. We managed to get a pair of reasonably priced, foldable Adirondack chairs made by local Mennonites. Our old chairs were falling apart and we'd been looking for a few weeks for replacements.
The market has been in business for 34 years, and Josh explained to Rob that it is still family-owned. He loaded the chairs into the back of the CRV for us.

After figuring out a colour that would go with the front porch of the farmette house (we swithered between green and red), we settled on Sizzle! Great name for the paint we'll be applying when the rain stops. Looking forward to sitting on the sizzle and sipping cool drinks for the rest of the summer. Until next week.
Gratuitous cat photo courtesy of Wilma, who always looks smug after she's escaped the house and made us crazy trying to get her back.
