Easter celebration

It's a sunny, cold day at the farmette. There was a hard frost overnight. So hard that the water in the rain gauge was frozen. We only got a bit yesterday - less than a tenth of an inch.
Last Sunday, we had our Easter get-together at the Thorntons, with a crowd of about 15. Lots of good laughs and visiting and excellent food, including a big ham, scalloped potatoes, homemade baked beans, squash and all the fixings, with three (!) desserts.

Here's Rob and I with our pre-dinner drinks. Niece Erin made a fancy cocktail that involved jelly beans for me, and Rob had his usual Scotch and water.
Rob decided, for the first time in the 30+ years we've been together, to grow his beard earlier this year. He did have a beard for a long time pre-me, but shaved it off when the red hair turned white and made him look like a skunk. Now, I think he looks distinguished. He thinks he looks like Spike Milligan.
It was a fairly chilly day, so we didn't get outside to do the usual yard games (vertical golf, volleyball, bocce).

Here's the hostess with the mostest Sandy doing her usual tongue-sticking-out pose for the camera. Notice she has the family springer spaniel Sadie's tail in her right hand. All goofing aside, she's an amazing organizer and we all appreciate how much work goes into these shindigs.
Spring seems to have decided to be late in Grey County this year, although today it's supposed to go to 14C and even warmer tomorrow.

Our spring flowers are blooming nevertheless. Got my first big bouquet of daffodils the other day. Sweet.
The Chinese think daffodils bring good fortune and the Japanese believe they bring joy and mirth. We could use all those things right now. They are cheerful. Until next week.
