Parading at Feversham fair

It's a sunny warm day at the farmette. Supposed to get to 26C. So we're getting a second summer, it seems.
Yesterday, the weather was fine as Sandy and I went to her local fair. With a twist.
Sandy's neighbour Barb had asked her to ride shotgun as she drove her vintage 1956 Pontiac in the fair parade. I rode along as second shotgun and all three of us threw candies to the kids lining the route. What a blast! I'd never been IN a parade before. So it was an absolute hoot.

Bonus was that we were lined up behind the Scottish marching band. Double bonus was that the car won the classic car competition. Cool.

After all that excitement, we toured the rest of the fair and more was in store. Sandy had entered some of her home made and home grown items in the fair competitions.

Lo and behold she won a first with her glads and another for her maple syrup. Look out world, the Harris girls are conquering the rural fairs. HAHAHAHA!

Feversham is truly a family af'fair' for niece Erin's boyfriend Tyler. His whole extended family gets involved.
Here's his grandfather with a two horse hitch. Dolly and Dolly are the magnificent beasts that towed half the family on the cart behind. (The first Dolly was his when he bought the second horse, whose name was also Dolly - confusing, but it all worked out).

Here's Erin and Tyler on the left with Tyler's sister-in-law Meghan and their dog Beau in the box. Because of her advanced age, and the fact that Tyler loves her almost as much as he does Erin, Marley (peeking out the window) got pride of place in the front seat of the 1995 Ford F150 that he drove. Which is actually his sister Abby's truck. She, in turn, was busy riding a horse in the parade.
All in all, it was an amazing day that ended back over at the Thorntons for a scrumptious barbecue. With all the turmoil that's going on in the world, it's comforting to be reminded that there are friends, family and fun times to be had close to home. Until next week.
