Day away in Kincardine

The weather can't decide what it wants to do today. Started out soupy and grey and now the sun's out. It's warm, at least at 20C.

The farmette sunflowers are in their full glory, as you can see. Between eight and 10 feet, by my estimation.

My friend Jane from Toronto has been visiting this weekend, and yesterday, we went to the Artwalk in Kincardine. Most of it was in Victoria Park. Lots of kiosks with local artisans showing their wares.

Here she is checking out this woman who makes jewelry out of old spoons and forks. Really clever. She was demonstrating at a wee TV table beside her shop.

There were painters and wood workers and crafty people of all types. One girl from Chesley sold me this t-shirt. Rob thought it was completely appropriate and I agreed. I find 'hairy coos' irresistable.

We got into a long conversation about Scotland, relatives, and accents that are sometimes indecipherable. Like her cousins in Glasgow.

We started by parking beside the biggest self-serve market I've ever seen. Right on the main drag of Queen Street. Nobody watching over the hundreds of pumpkins and plants on display. Just signs indicating how much each item was and a board with e-transfer options. Of course cash and cards were accepted up the street a piece.

Modern day farmers' market, eh?

We had lunch at the Hawg's Breath Saloon, a beautful old building with old fashioned brass beer taps. Oh, and really scrumptious food on the menu. All three of us were, in Rob's words, sufficiently sufonsiphied.

The town itself is gorgeous with all manner of historic buildings. I just had to take a photo of this house on the edge of the park.

We also took in the local art gallery which had dozens of beautiful pieces. All in all, it was a lovely day in a lovely town on right on the shore of Lake Huron. Until next week.
