It's a sunny, very cold (-21C) day at the farmette. We're now over the winter solstice hump and adding an astonishing 60 seconds of extra daylight today. Woop!
I took this shot at about 4:30 yesterday afternoon, just as the yellow orb was sinking in the west.
As we get closer to the big day, I'm in a bit of a reflective and grateful mood.
We received this spectacular bouquet yesterday from our dear friends Jane and Dana, who live in Parksville on Vancouver Island.
Rob has known Jane since they were in public school in Oshawa, and we've been friends with the couple for decades.
We have so many fantastic memories of times together at their cottage in Sturgeon Point and we've been out to the island a few times since they moved there from North Vancouver.
This is a picture of all of us when we travelled together to Scotland and England in 2007. We're at Rob's cousin Catriona's house in Nairn, on the Scottish North Sea. We had an amazing trip, with stunning sightseeing, too much great food and tons of fun.
Shortly after Rob and I got together, we did a road trip out west, with stops in Medicine Hat to visit his folks, Vancouver to see Jane and Dana, and Prince George to catch up with my brother Bob and his family.
Here they are during that time.
Hard to believe that the three kids are now adults and married with children. Alex - the blondie on the right beside her mother - just turned 40. Where does the time go? I'm happy to report that everyone - Bob, Kate, Geoff, Alex and Joanne - is healthy and happy. And they all still live in Prince George. So great that they regularly get together.
Ok. Enough with the nostalgia - there's a boatload more pictures and memories over the past three+ decades. I guess I'm just happy we have been fortunate enough to have the time, energy and finances to be able to travel and enjoy friends and family over the years. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas.
