Winter wonderland at the farmette

It's a frigid, snow-covered morning at the farmette. Only -11C. Brrr.

It was crisp and clear earlier, when I went out to check the snow gauge (two inches overnight and 13 inches accumulated on the ground). So I decided to take a few pics around the property.

Here's Toad of Toad Hall from the Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame. He's been with us forever, and he was Rob's pre-me. Rob's a huge fan of the book and re-reads it regularly.

Toad now sits atop the fence post on the west side of the house. The juncos and chickadees like to perch on his head sometimes to rest before flying to the nearby feeder. He doesn't mind.

The snow has been relentless this past week. The icicles on the eaves are particularly large now, as you can see off the sun room.

The days are getting shorter and shorter and the nights longer and longer. This shot was taken shortly after 8:00 a.m. The sun had just started to peek its way through the trees in the east.

With the hustle and bustle of Christmas coming, making and buying presents and baking and cleaning, and, and...It's nice to just relax a bit and take in the beauty of the season. Until next week.

Gratuitous cat photo courtesy of Hobbes, who is quite comfy taking up the entire surface of the register, with not a single thought of going outdoors.
