Catching up in the new year

It's a snowy day at the farmette. We got five inches over night and there's eight and half total on the ground. It was a bit wild and wooly outdoors yesterday, so we hunkered down in the new rec room and watched the professional women's hockey all afternoon. Really great entertainment, gotta say.

The cold keeps hanging on and I'm drowning in phlegm, but I'm also tired of being sick, so I wanted to make myself feel better by writing to friends and family. This will be a catch up from the last few weeks.

Christmas Eve-ternoon in Feversham was a big success, with a starring role for Sandy's Beef Wellington. Yum. As you can see, she and I were quite satisfied after the feast.

The Thorntons really know how to put on a big beautiful spread, and we had a great visit with Brian, Sandy, Erin with her boyfriend Tyler, and Rachel with her boyfriend Zach.

Aunt Milly died late in the year. Sandy, brother Dan and I attended the memorial in Dutton, where she spent the last days of her 105 years. What a long, loving and remarkable life she had. She's the last of her generation, which included my mom and dad.

New Year's eve was spent quietly and we actually hit the sack somewhere around 10:30 p.m. Can't make it to midnight any more. Actually it's been a few years since we did. No matter. 2024 came through anyway.

The recliners we bought from Smitty's of Hanover arrived on January 2nd at 7:30 in the morning. What a way to start the year! The delivery guys were quick and professional and even showed us how to dismantle the chairs, should we ever need to. I immediately did a test run with my new 'reading' socks which I got from my good friend Pat. The rec room is nearly complete now, and we're so grateful to have it. Especially now, since I've been laid up with this rotten cold.

Happy New Year everyone. Here's hoping it's healthy, safe and filled with fun.
